Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Catholic Primary School, West Pymble was founded by Mercy sisters in 1962. Sister Mary Antoinette, a sister of Mercy, was the Principal and sole teacher. The following year, in 1963, another teacher, Sister Juliana joined Sister Mary Antoinette. In 1977, Sister Maureen Graham was the last of the Sisters of Mercy to teach in the Parish school, and with her departure, fifteen years of teaching Sisters came to an end. The Mercy tradition of nurturing and educating children continues today and the school aims to embrace the Mercy values.
Catherine McAuley, the Mercy sister’s founder expresses God’s mercy in several values which should pervade and give character to every mission, in every time and place, for which her Sisters are responsible. These values are: Mercy, Compassion, Hospitality, Human Dignity, Respectfulness, Diversity, Empowerment, Justice, Service and Option for the Poor.
The senior students at OLPS named our colour houses based on the Mercy Tradition.
Each colour house has a story …
